Pastor Paul Jones

The Rev.Paul Lee Jones has been the pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Ynyshir since May 1st 2004. He has been married to Jane since 1989 and have two sons Owen and Ellis.
My name is Paul Jones and I was born and brought up in the Rhondda valley. I came from a good Christian home where my parents were born again or saved. Although I had a good head knowledge of the bible this did not make me a Christian, as salvation is a personal experience.
I met my wife Jane at work and we were married the following year 1989 .Two years later we had our first son Owen and our second son Ellis came along in 1995.
While in work one day the Lord came to me and said (not in an audible voice but to my heart) Paul you need to be saved. The first time that he did this I rejected him as I thought that Jane might leave me, because I knew there would be a change. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Cor 5:17.The next day the Lord came back again, and this time I accepted His free gift of salvation.My parents recommended a good Church for me to attend in the town that I lived.
It was at The Mission in Ystrad Mynach with an American missionary Pastor Allen Payne. Just six weeks after I accepted the Lord as my personal Savior, Jane came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior also. Through my pastor I was encouraged to attend the Gospel Preachers Association’s bible institute held at Bethany Baptist Church, Ynyshir. God called me to preach during my studies, from which I graduated from in May 2000.Pastor Allen Payne left the Mission and started Victory Baptist Church. I was associate pastor there for a couple of years, and it was there that the Lord trained me for the ministry.
Acts 16:9 says “And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia and help us.”
The Lord once again was dealing with me this time about starting other churches and working for him full time. Jane and I sold our home, our car and went as a family to America for six months. During this time we learnt a lot about faith and trusting God. When we came back to Wales I took the final step of faith and finished my job. Just a week or two later Pastor Ed Moore of Bethany Baptist Church resigned, and they asked me to be their pastor. Read My Statement of Faith
